Investments Analyst

Main Purpose of the Role

The Investments Analyst will analyse existing, potential and new investment instruments with the objective of advising the Director Investments regarding their suitability for the PSPF portfolio – considering expected risks and returns – and monitor the performance of Asset Managers.

Key Performance Areas

  1. 01 Participate in the development and review of the Investment Strategy, Policy and Guidelines.
  2. 02 Monitor the performance of Asset Managers and make recommendations to the Director Investments.
  3. 03 Conduct research and investment analysis for new and existing projects.
  4. 04 Ensure compliance with the Investment Policy and Guidelines.
  5. 05 Build sound relationships with Regulatory Authorities, Retirement Funds and other financial institutions.
  6. 06 Ensure understanding of Government objectives in fostering economic development in Eswatini.
  7. 07 Provide practical input to the Registrar about local investment requirements.
  8. 08 Participate in the formulation of risk parameters for evaluating investment proposals.
  9. 09 Liaise with the Fund's Investment Advisor and Consultant, ensuring recommendations align with the Fund's overall objectives.
  10. 10 Understand the broad asset classes used by the Fund – listed equity, listed property, bonds, cash and derivatives – locally, in South Africa and offshore.
  11. 11 Apply accounting principles in evaluating companies and investment proposals.
  12. 12 Evaluate risks associated with Private Equity within the Fund's overall risk tolerance.
  13. 13 Deliver timely, comprehensive reports at a standard commensurate with published investment reports by economists and Investment Analysts.

Minimum Qualifications

Degree

B.Com Degree in Economics, Finance or Investments

Professional

ACCA, CFA, MBA, or MSc in Finance

Experience

Minimum 4 years in financial markets or project appraisals

Management

Minimum 3 years at management level

Advantageous

Experience in Private Equity
